PETITION FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF POSTAL OPERATIONS IN QUEBEC CITY
Campaign Against Quebec City Plant Closure / Petition
Please send the petition with original signatures by September 14th, 2005 to the CUPW Quebec Regional Office as per the address at the bottom of the petition. DO NOT RETURN BY FAX.
We, the undersigned, draw the attention of the House to the following:
THAT a well-functioning public post-office is essential for strong, healthy communities and a modern, efficient economy;
THAT Parliament has mandated Canada Post to improve the quality of service provided to the public and to improve labour relations with its union;
THAT the closure of the postal installation located at 300, rue St-Paul and the elimination of 302 regular jobs will lead to a deterioration of postal services in Quebec City as well as the rest of Quebec.
THEREFORE, your petitioners, call upon Parliament to:
1. Immediately stop the closure of and halt all transfer of work from Canada Post's Quebec City facility to Montreal and;
2. Demand that Canada Post maintain all mail processing in Quebec City.
